Website & app policies

Privacy Policy

What is a privacy policy?

A privacy policy is a public statement of how your website or app handles people's information: what you collect, why, who you share it with, and what rights users have. It is the document visitors look for when they want to know whether they can trust you with their data.

It is also a legal requirement in most places once you collect any personal information, and a condition of using many third-party tools and app stores.

Make it match what you actually do

The most important rule of a privacy policy is accuracy: it must describe your real practices, not an ideal version. Switch on only the sections that apply — cookies, analytics, advertising, data sharing, accounts — so the policy reflects how your site truly works.

If your practices change later, update the policy and its effective date. An out-of-date or inaccurate policy can be worse than none at all.

Rights, regions, and review

If you reach users in the EU or UK, include the GDPR rights section; for California users, add the CCPA section. These give people a clear way to access or delete their data.

This generator produces a solid baseline, but it is a self-help tool, not legal advice. For sensitive data or large-scale processing, a professional review is worth it.
